Al Rawlings' Fishing Report

Al Rawlings' Fishing Report

22 October 2012

Last week I was on a trip to bonny Scotland, the great glen no less,  which incorporates Loch Ness, Loch Lochy and the interconnecting Caledonian canal system.

Beautiful scenery, but unfortunately the weather was not that beautiful!  Wind and rain was the order for the weeks fishing, and with colder rising water levels the pike switched off the feed as no fish like sudden water temperature changes. After 3 days of nothing despite fishing hard, a change of venue was sourced.  Somewhere where the pike would not be to effected with the sudden change.  This paid off handsomely on the first day with just the one take but from the right sized pike which I prefer to target.

A 21Ib.08oz Highland beauty graced my landing net. I was delighted by this catch as this one fish made the trip a success especially in such diverse and challenging conditions.  I'll soon be returning for some more for sure.
